Robert is a 50 year old man born in Alice springs.

When Robert was a baby his family returned to Kaltukatjara ( Docker River)

Robert speaks many languages but his main language is pitjantjatjara.

Over the years Robert has held several positions in the community including Carer and Grounds assistant for the local aged care, Local regional Council and assisted with building the air strip which meant that RFDS could access Docker river and the mail plain could make regular deliveries.

Robert is also a successful tracker, and has been used by local rescue teams on several occasions.

Robert was taught skills of carving by the local elders of Punu. 

Over thousands of years, Anangu have developed a culture of rich skills reflecting the environment and close relationship they share with their land. With skill and patience, the limited resources of the desert have yielded highly efficient weapons and tools of survival as well as beautifully crafted representations of the desert fauna.
